The beginning of something great
Congratulations, today you’ve made an important choice. By deciding to build a website for your charity, you’ve opened up a new realm of possibilities. You’ll be able to greatly expand your reach, create awareness and gather donations all from the comforts of your home, or even your cellphone. It is this same ease of access which will encourage others to join your cause, and share your message. Before you’ll be fully able to harness the power of the internet, however, decisions will have to be made and time invested. Don’t worry though, we’ll help you through it.
A way to do business
A charity is, for all intents and purposes, a business. And thus your charity website can learn from the best practices of standard ecommerce websites. Like in any business, your goal is to make a profit, but the difference is that you will spend this profit on a noble goal. Sadly enough, unlike a business where you can play on the needs of your audience, you will have to inspire others with the same passion you have found for your goal and rely on their goodwill. This is by all means possible, but may make it more difficult to gather funds at the start. At the same time it makes it less evident to reinvest those profits towards expansion. After all, every profit reinvested means less help towards your goal. This makes it all the more important to maximize results, with a minimum of investment.
